The Matthew Roland Foundation team is made up of family members, friends and those who loved Captain Roland. The Board’s goal is to continue to honor his legacy and give back to those who sacrifice for our country and our freedoms every day.
Col. Mark Roland (Ret.), President & CEO
Col. Mark Roland (Ret.) is the Gold Star father of Capt. Matthew Roland. He retired from the United States Air Force and continues to be a Gold Star and survivor advocate and volunteer. He is a member of numerous veteran and military service organizations.
Lt Col. Rose Chapman, Vice President
Lt Col. Rose Chapman was Captain Roland’s fiancée. She is currently serving in the United States Air Force in special operations. She works with and supports numerous Gold Star family and survivor support groups.
Erica Roland, Secretary
Erica Roland is the Gold Star sister of Capt. Roland. She is an attorney at law and works with and supports numerous Gold Star families and Survivor support groups.
Barbara Roland, Treasurer
Barbara Roland is the Gold Star mother of Captain Roland. She is a retired special educator. She continues to volunteer tutoring and works with and supports Gold Star families and survivor support groups.
Col. Kurt Buller (Ret.), Board Member
Col. Kurt Buller (Ret.) retired from the United States Air Force serving in several roles in special operations. He is the President and CEO of Intrepid Leadership Group, whose Teen Leadership Camp the Matthew Roland Foundation supports. He is actively involved in and supports veteran and military service organizations.

John Thier, Board Member
John Thier is an entrepreneur who has successfully run several startup companies. He is a graduate of DARDEN Business School at the University of Virginia. He is an alumnus of Lexington Catholic High School, where he was classmates with Capt. Roland.
